Modern dance company Pilobolus will be making its Webb Center debut on Tuesday, March 25 at 7:30 pm. The award-winning troupe is known for its gravity-defying acrobatic movements, athleticism, shadow work and artistry.
Founded in 1971, this incomparable American dance company has amazed audiences by combining gymnastics with gravity-defying works of extreme balance, contortion and illusion. Pilobolus began as an outsider dance company and quickly became renowned for its creative use of the human body as a medium of expression.
Now in its 42nd year, the popular troupe continues to delight audiences around the globe with its inventive and witty works of performance art. The original company, Pilobolus Dance Theater, has toured its 115 pieces of repertory to more than 64 countries.
Based in Washington Depot, Connecticut, Pilobolus performs for stage, television, and online audiences all over the world. In recent years Pilobolus has been featured on the likes of “Oprah,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” and the opening ceremony of the 2007 Academy Awards.
