To begin the holiday season at the Webb Center, audiences will be treated to a unique concert experience as the Canadian musical powerhouse Leahy takes the stage for “A Leahy Family Christmas.” On Wednesday, Dec. 4 and Thursday, Dec. 5 in Wickenburg, the family will perform Christmas favorites, original seasonal pieces, and the traditional Leahy fare that audiences have come to love.
Making their third appearance on the Webb Center stage, Leahy performances are an exciting combination of expert step-dancing, fiery fiddle playing, singing and storytelling. The evening will feature multiple instruments including: fiddles, bass guitar, drums, piano, acoustic guitar, banjo, and even the accordion.
Leahy is a group of eight brothers and sisters, who grew up playing music on their family farm, exploring their Irish-Scottish roots while perfecting their many musical talents. Although eight family members currently tour together, there are actually eleven siblings who all play music and have performed with the group in the past.
The Leahy’s have shared their talents and love of music with audiences in their native Canada and around the world for many years. They’ve released four successful CD’s, won three Juno Awards (Canada’s equivalent to the Grammys), opened for Shania Twain on her first world tour, and also worked on one of her albums. In 1985, they were the subject of an Academy Award-winning short film entitled Leahy: Music Most of All.
“A Leahy Family Christmas” offers the audience a peek in the window of the Leahy home to experience their holiday season. Tickets are available for both the Wednesday and Thursday shows at 7:30 pm. Tickets start at $28; $5 for 18 and under. Call the Webb Center’s Box Office at (928)684-6624 to order tickets, or visit the event page for more information and video previews.
