This multi-media concert commemorates music composed and premiered during 1933, a pivotal year in human history. SHUFFLE explores the intersection between performance, art, and the momentous history of the period: from the inauguration of FDR, to the end of Prohibition, and the rise to power of Germany’s new chancellor. True to SHUFFLE’s genre-bending format, the 1933 playlist varies between classical pieces and popular hits — from Shostakovich to Ellington — against a backdrop of original and archival video footage from the era.

Residency support provided by the RH Johnson Foundation, WESTAF and the Wellik Foundation
